Method Summary

Monitoring of the production embankment involves the measurement of vertical and lateral movements, primarily at the embankment surface, to ensure that there is no detrimental differential settlement and that stability is maintained. The monitoring for the production embankment typically includes periodic surveys of the embankment surface and perhaps the use of inclinometers.

Schaefer et al. (2017) provide a performance specification where the contractor is responsible for the design. Payment is based on successfully limiting settlement or differential settlement to some maximum value as determined by post-construction monitoring.
